About

History

On September 9th, 1968, the Janesville Bible Baptist Temple (now Oakhill Christian Church) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the future establishment of a Christian day school.  The church sold $210,000 in bonds to finance the new building.  The building was dedicated in the fall of 1971.
In the fall of 1972, Oakhill Christian School was organized including K4 and K5 kindergarten classes.  Mrs. Yeager served as the teacher.  Grades 1-4 were added in 1973, grades 5-8 in 1974, and the high school in 1975.  Four seniors graduated in 1976.
In 1985, Lisa Amerson became the first student to complete all 13 grades at Oakhill. Since its opening, OCS has operated athletic programs that resulted in multiple basketball and volleyball state championships.
Graduates of the school have gone on to attend UW schools, West Point, Moody Bible Institute, Pensacola Christian, Arizona State, Maranatha Baptist and many other accredited colleges.
OCS alumni can be found working in ministry, healthcare, law, engineering, skilled trades, education, and business fields.

The mission of Oakhill Christian School is to provide a comprehensive education that equips students to:

Become conformed to the image of Christ.

Serving Christ by developing the complete student: spiritually, socially, intellectually, and physically.

to analyze and evaluate life’s issues in light of God’s word

to develop self-control for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom

The following PURPOSES stem from our mission and philosophy:

To teach that the Lord Jesus Christ is to be pre-eminent in all of life, including education.
To assist parents in training their children to be effective Christians in the world, but not of the world, by developing within each student a discerning Christian mind.
To teach problem analysis and decision making from a biblical perspective.
To encourage the development of students’ God-given talents and gifts, thereby promoting a healthy self image in each student.
To provide a positive, challenging, Christ-centered environment for learning.

Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His substitutionary and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return to power and glory.
We believe that all are lost and sinful and that salvation is received by the grace of God through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by the act of regeneration of life by the Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe that the Church is the living body of Christ and exists to proclaim the Gospel to all persons everywhere, and to bring believers to maturity in Christ.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: the saved unto the resurrection of life, and the lost unto the resurrection of eternal punishment.
We believe that Christ shall return to judge the world and to rule in righteousness.
We believe in the spiritual unity of the believers in our Lord Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit as established in the Bible.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man.
We believe that support and participation in the task of fulfilling the great commission is the responsibility of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
